Welcome

The Scotland Civil service Local environment network is made up of members across the civil service in Scotland and is a forum for colleagues that are interested in the environment and how we can take steps individually or together to help reverse climate change. We aim to do this by educating and building awareness of environmental issues and to help our colleagues understand what steps as individuals and as a collective they can take to help reduce their carbon footprint and protect our environment for future generations.

This year in Scotland we will be hosting the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 1 to 12 November 2021. We are keen in this very important year to make our network as successful as possible and to help do our bit, and as part of this will be providing information to colleagues on the environmental promises made by the Scottish government and importantly on the progress towards achievement of those targets.

If you prefer a more hands on approach we will also be running some practical environmental initiatives throughout the year, where you can get involved, such as a gardening project, litter picks, reducing your plastic waste and volunteering.

Our group is very friendly and open to anyone across the civil service in Scotland who has an interest in joining. You do not need to know anything about climate change or the environment just an enthusiasm to get involved. We look forward to welcoming you as a member. To join us please email Jenny Dee with your contact details.
